Some of us get an amazing opportunity to change up our career and switch over to do something that we are truly passionate about. I am sure that when Ivan decided to change his career, he never thought he would be working alongside his son 12 years later.

Name:  Ivan Silovic  Joined: 2011

Burke Williams Location: San Jose

Position: Massage Therapist

How did you become a Massage Therapist?

Before Burke Williams, I was in International Business Development for night clubs. Once I had my son I realized I couldn’t keep up with the stress level and the time away. As you can imagine, in the night club world your work gets done in the evening. I really wanted to find something that allowed me to work during the day and sleep at night, and be more present with my son.

My parents were physicians and I was a Birkram instructor.  Taking care of people was in my blood. I decided to look into massage school and began my journey to obtain my license at Everest College.

What made you decide to apply to Burke Williams?

Burke Williams really checked all the boxes for me. Working here would allow me to be present with my son who was in 1st grade at the time. They really created a work life balance for me.

Your son is now in massage school. How did that come about?

Dylan spent some time around other employees at the spa as he was growing up and really got a glimpse of the supportive environment. Recently, he came in and received a facial and massage for the first time at Burke Williams.  That really solidified that he wanted to go to massage school.

Since a young age Dylan has been in Martial arts. He became a black belt by age of 11, and would meditate from a very young age.  It feels fitting that this has become his chosen path.

Your son works at Burke Williams currently as support staff. What's it like working alongside him?

I love it! Makes it feel like home when I come in and he is working a shift alongside me. It’s very comfortable.

How has it been working for Burke Williams the last 12 years?

I’m a work in progress. I am always looking to grow and better my craft in my sessions and for my clients. The learning never stops.

I enjoy that I get to share my passion and knowledge with my team.
