Congratulations! You impressed the team and received a job offer. While an exciting situation, it may be challenging if you're hoping for an offer from another company. Though a tricky situation, using effective communication and decision-making techniques can help. Fear not, as I share some strategies that can help you navigate this dilemma like a pro.

ASK FOR MORE TIME

If you find yourself in the fortunate position of receiving one job offer but you are hoping for one from another company, be honest about your situation. Most employers understand that applicants apply to multiple companies. Give yourself room to breathe by politely asking for more time and give them a date if you know when you’ll hear back from the other company. Be transparent with each company without oversharing or putting unnecessary pressure on either side. 

PROMPTLY REJECT UNWANTED OFFERS

If you realize during the interview that a company is not aligned with what you want, don’t hesitate to decline and step out of the interview process. This not only frees up your time and energy to find your dream job, but also demonstrates your professionalism and integrity.

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PREFERRED COMPANY

If you have a company that you are holding out for, consider expressing your interest and inquire about your status in their hiring process. Ask them if it is possible to interview sooner or when their deadline is for making a decision. However, be polite and tactful. You don’t want to come across as pushy or demanding.

FIND THE RIGHT FIT

DECLINE WITH GRACE

If you decide to decline an offer, respectfully inform the company as soon as you have made your decision. Express gratitude for the opportunity and wish them well in their search. This can keep doors open to you in the future if you were to change your mind. Burning bridges or ghosting them is never advisable in the small world of massage where connections and reputations matter.

However, by being proactive, respectful and authentic in your communications, you can navigate this tricky situation with professionalism and integrity.
