The Best Massage Therapy Jobs: 3 Things to Think About

Posted by Burke Williams on Jul 25, 2024

The concept of spas and massage therapy have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, and since the 1980s the day/luxury spa space in the U.S. and throughout the world took off which led to an influx of job positions for massage therapists in particular. As a massage therapist that’s passionate about your profession, what’s best for you?

After 40 years in the luxury spa industry, we thought it would be helpful to share our feedback with some questions people might have about getting into the massage industry and those experienced massage therapists already practicing their craft and those experienced massage therapists already practicing their craft looking to continue their education and improve their skills. Below are a few examples:

What are the rewards of being a massage therapist?
First and foremost, before becoming a massage therapist and being certified by CAMTC (in California), you have to look internally and think about if serving others through massage is something you’re truly passionate about, and if so, the reward at the end of the day is feeling good about helping others.

What benefits do I get from working as a massage therapist?
This is a common question we are often asked. Massage therapists with their own companies often do not receive health care and wellness benefits though when working for an established company like Burke Williams you not only have access to continued education and career development, but also, other benefits like a 401k plan and more.

Why should I choose massage therapy as my career?
Choosing a career and ultimately a path for your life is a difficult decision and at the same time you have to discover what makes you happy on a daily basis. Many of our massage therapists have been with Burke Williams for many years because we nurture growth and leadership. Join us as partners in transformation as we serve others.

The main point is that whether you’re located in California (Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, San Jose, etc.) or anywhere else in the world, the luxury day spa industry provides a variety of opportunities for massage therapists and we are actively hiring now.
