After a long, cold winter, that most wonderful time of the year is finally upon us: bathing suit season. Are you bikini-ready? Here are three things you can start doing right now to get yourself in the right frame of mind and ready to strut yourself on the sand or poolside.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of celebrating Mother’s Day early by taking my cute lil mom to the Burke Williams Spa in Torrance. Two fun facts about my mom: (and possibly YOUR mom!?) spending time with her kids is one of her favorite things to do, and going to the spa is a close second. Combine the two together and the result is one happy mom! The Burke in Torrance did a great job of sweeping us both off our feet. The services were fabulous (as usual) but then they went and added champagne and fancy fruit plate to really wow us. Well done Burke, well done. The video below shows my mom and I acting like children (typical) and having a perfect day together. Take a look!
As much as our kids might hate them, baths have been a source of health and happiness for most of human history. Egyptian royalty bathed with essential oils and flowers. The Romans built large communal facilities for bathing and socializing. The Greek physician Hippocrates prescribed spring water baths for sickness, a practice known as hydrotherapy.
The days are getting longer and the temperature is rising – before you know it, beach season will be upon us. June 21st is the first official day of summer, and with Summer Solstice rapidly approaching, it’s time to start shedding your layers and showing off what you’ve got. If you’re not quite ready to don your favorite bikini, don’t worry -- at Burke Williams, we have everything you need to look and feel your absolute best. Try one of these treatments and you’ll be beach-ready in no time.

Known as the "The Tomb of the Physician,” the site is covered with hieroglyphics and murals -- among them, the depiction of two men receiving hand and foot massages. The ancient tomb is proof that humans have been enjoying the benefits of massage for over 4,000 years, but for as long as we’ve been practicing the art of massage, many of us still know little about it.
When it comes to self-beautification, I've always said, "Invest in your skin." We carefully pick out cleansers and moisturizers that compliment our skin type, we believe in the importance of facials and exfoliation treatments, and we're religious about wearing sunscreen; however many of us neglect the most effective skin care product out there: the consumption of water.
Your first trip to the spa, like any other first, can be nerve-wracking. But don’t worry – that’s bad for your skin. Take a deep breath, let go and get ready to be spoiled. We're about to tell you what you can expect on your first visit to your local Burke Williams Spa.
Whether you're jet-setting around the globe or just running errands around town, being out and about is hard on your skin. If you’re serious about looking good, you'll need to grab more than your cell phone, wallet, keys, and lipstick on your way out the front door. To make sure you're prepared, ask yourself the following questions before you leave the house:
“Spa Denim” or Spa Treatment? Your Gimmick-Free Moisturizing Checklist
