Burke Williams has deep roots in Orange County with luxury day spas in Mission Viejo and Orange along with other locations throughout California, and this blog post touches on what we saw in the early days and why we made the move to invest in Mission Viejo when the community was coming to fruition, and today it has become a magical destination/escape.
Looking at the history of Mission Viejo going back hundreds of years before people started to flock to the oasis that was created, the area was first inhabited by ranchers then visionaries like Don Juan Forster. Skeptics in the early days deemed the land around Mission Viejo as “undevelopable” yet Forster executed on his mission.
After that, Donald Bren – an urban planner as part of the Irvine Company – “drafted a master plan for a community which placed roads in the valleys and houses on the hills, and contoured to the geography of the area,” according to Wikipedia. Essentially, the plan for what Mission Viejo is today was developed around 1980.
Shortly thereafter, Burke Williams became one of the first luxury day spas in California and in the early 2000s we expanded to Mission Viejo as a staple of new development at the time with 26 treatment rooms and over 100 employees today. And most importantly, it has been incredibly rewarding as a company to help boost/support the community by employing thousands of people over the past 20 years. In addition, Burke Williams is proud to be a pillar of rejuvenation and restoration, providing an oasis for locals to relax and recharge.
Looking at the future, Burke Williams will continue to play a role in Mission Viejo offering job opportunities and continued education for massage therapists and other members of our team.
