Coffee Grounds
The java bean’s caffeine is said to have a similar effect on your skin as it does your personality: a lifting boost to a saggy demeanor. The size of the ground will determine the level of abrasion that’s achieved. For a more thorough scrub, leave the grounds a larger size (many grinders mark this the “drip” size). For a gentler scrub, grind the coffee to its espresso-friendly, powdery state.
Lavender Seeds
Lavender is a unique exfoliant in that it provides an aromatherapeutic experience during your scrub. Lavender is heralded for its ability to calm and soothe, and is frequently used before bedtime or massages when relaxation is key. 
Purchase the seeds, which should be slightly smaller than grains of rice and still lavender in color, from a seed store, herb shop or online.
Oatmeal
Oats have soothing, moisturizing properties, hence their place as the staple ingredient in so many skin care lines. They’re also delightfully inexpensive and easy to store.
Because oats expand when exposed to moisture, use half as much as you think you need. They take time to soak, however, so allow them to absorb moisture overnight.
Salt
Salt is said to purify, extracting unwelcome substances from surfaces (which is why it’s sometimes used as a household cleanser). Like coffee, the grind of salt can vary from course to extremely fine, so choose according to the level of exfoliation you desire.
Add the exfoliants to lotions, cleansers, oils and even bath bubbles. Soaking the exfoliants in the fridge will turn your concoction into a cooling, soothing treat to your face or body.
