Juice cleanses are all the latest rage but do you really know how to get the most out of your detox? For those unfamiliar with the practice, juicing consists of replacing your everyday meals with a variety of cold-pressed juices made from organic fruits and vegetables with no added flavors or preservatives. The length of a cleanse is between one and five days time. I can truly say from experience that the results, both physically and mentally, are almost immediate. You will begin to see little tokens of gratitude in the form of clear skin, brighter eyes and defined features staring back at you in the mirror.
Why Should I Spa After I Cleanse?
I regularly incorporate juice cleanses into my diet and have noticed the results are magnified even more when I add a spa day into the mix. I wish I had realized this sooner! Cleansing makes your body tighter and clothes fit better but adding additional detoxifying treatments leaves you rejuvenated from the inside out.
The entire purpose of treating your body to this break is so that you can eliminate toxins and flush your system naturally. Beauty starts from within and by allowing yourself to be pampered you are helping aid the detoxification process; not to mention you will look and feel instantly younger.
Which Treatments Should I Try?
I think any spa treatment is relaxing but here are some of my favorite Burke Williams treatments that I would like to recommend to accompany your next juice cleanse:
Scrub.
Salt Glo or Sugar Glo will not only remove dead surface skin cells leaving your skin looking beautiful, but the act of scrubbing will stimulate the lymphatic system. Just a friendly reminder the Salt Glo is designed for spa enthusiasts and is a bit more intense than the delicate Sugar Glo. Either one will leave you feeling refreshed and beaming from the inside out.
Hydrate.
Drinking water should already be high on your priority list; however while juicing you should be consuming at least twice the amount you usually do. The Mustard Detox bath at Burke Williams is “the ultimate in detoxification and tissue cleansing” helping you hydrate your skin and clear additional toxins from your body. Hydrotherapy spa baths can be added in conjunction with other spa services.
Massage.
At Burke Williams, there is a signature treatment called Emilee’s Intrigue, which is my personal favorite. This full-body treatment uses eucalyptus leaves and lavender to extract toxins while leaving all of your senses indulged. Be prepared to forget where you are and submerge yourself into cocoon of warmth while receiving a hot stone massage.
Juice cleanses can be challenging, but if paired with a spa day you can truly reap the benefits of refreshing your system. This is the only body you are ever going to have, so make sure to embrace it and shower it with love!
